The Crystal Apple program, through the Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce, honors outstanding teachers in Finney County. The top three finalists will be named as Crystal Apple Teachers and will receive an engraved crystal apple, $1,000 cash award, and an iPad tablet.
Practices for the Lady Buffs basketball team have officially started, initiating their season.
Last year at about this same time the Buffs wrestling team started a long and hard working season that would pay off in the long run.
The Garden City High School art students presented their creative works in the 1st annual district K-12 art show on Nov. 14. The show gave students the opportunity to present a wide variety of medias including drawing, painting, graphic design, sculpture, mixed media and ceramics. Esmeralda Sepulveda, a senior in the red academy created a portrait of Alex Turner.
The Future Farmers of America organization creates leadership potential and provides personal growth and job preparation for all it’s members through agricultural education. On Nov. 15, FFA members traveled to Dodge City and competed at the Southwest Kansas District CDE Contest.

Winter sports are arriving quickly and many athletes are preparing for their sports. This year however is different, the Garden City High School just received a boys swim team.
Every year, Carnegie Hall invites hundreds of musically talented high school students from around the world, to preform and get the feel of preforming with people who are equally skilled and share the same love for music.
As fall sports come to an end, winter sports begin. Last season the boys ﬁnished with an 11-12 record, and also made it to state but unfortunately lost their ﬁrst game the the defending state champs.
