As fall sports come to an end, winter sports begin. Last season the boys finished with an 11-12 record, and also made it to state but unfortunately lost their first game the the defending state champs.

“I am really excited for the season to start. I feel like we have the chance to be good this season.” Garret Doll senior said. The team this year will have six home games, six away games, and four tournaments. The Round Ball Classic tournament will be at home December, 7. The Buffs will play against Wichita Trinity, Dumas, and Scott City. Senior Night will be against Dodge City, February, 13.

“We only lost two seniors from last season Griffin Brunson, and Zac Karlin. We also lost our seventh man Evan Allen-Mader.” Jacy Holloway head coach said. This season should run smoothly considering most of the varsity players have been playing with each other for a couple years now at the high school level. The basketballs teams tryouts have already started, being the first three days. Then two-a-days will start tomorrow, Thursday, November, 16.

“Our first game is right at the beginning of December.” Carlos Acosta sophomore said.

The team will travel to Canyon, Texas to play in the Tournament of Champions December, 1. The Buffs will play against Abilene Cooper, and Canyon or Bushland next.

This Saturday the 18th the Buffs will be holding an open practice where alumni can come and play pick up games against one another. The girls and boys basketball coaches will also play a game against each other, and will host a chili cook off fundraiser dinner.
