In the span of four plays, the Garden City High School Buffaloes allowed two Valley Center touchdowns as the Hornets jumped out to a 14-0 early lead in Friday’s game in Valley Center. The Buffs never recovered, losing 38-26 to drop to 0-2.

GREAT BEND -- Senior Ethan Fisher and freshman Jocelyn Sosa paced the Garden City Buffaloes boys and girls cross country teams to a pair of runner-up finishes on Thursday at the Great Bend Invitational, which was conducted over the Lake Barton layout. Fisher captured individual medalist honors by clocking a time of 13:51.5, which was 2.4 seconds ahead of runner-up Noah Cole of Hutchinson. Great Bend captured team honors with just 21 points while the Buffs were second with 48 points. On the girls side, Sosa was impressive in her varsity debut with a time of 17:04.4 to finish behind individual winner Mayra Ramirez of Great Bend, who came in at 16:51.7. The Lady Buffs scored 56 points to finish well behind host champion Great Bend's 19 points.
WICHITA -- The Garden City High School Buffaloes' boys soccer team rebounded from an opening-round loss to capture a 4-3 victory Wednesday (Sept. 4) over Wichita Northwest in the consolation bracket of the Wichita South Titan Classic. The victory evened the Buffs' early record at 1-1 and they will now take on Western Athletic Conference rival Hays High at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, for the fifth-place consolation trophy.
